Those who've had the redesigned Foursquare for Android are familiar with the app's greater priority on exploring local haunts; it's the iOS' users' turn now that Foursquare 6.0 is here. The update puts the Explore search box and map right on the main page, helping socialites quickly find out what's going on nearby.

Covered by The Telegraph earlier today, 5-year-old Danny Kitchen of Warmley, England racked up a monster iTunes bill after spending £1,710.43 ($2,568.55) on premium add-ons for a free-to-play Apple iPad game called Zombies vs Ninja. Video: New Amazon Kindle Ad Shows How Impossible It Is To Read The iPad In Direct Sunlight

Real Madrid v. Barcelona, Ali v. Frazier, and now Kindle v. iPad. This here commercialillustrates, in humorous fashion, the fact that the iPad isn’t nearly as easily visible in direct sunlight as the Kindle.

You already knew that the Kindle was perfectly visible in direct sunlight, and now we have Amazon—yes, this is an actual commercial that was seen on television (Good Morning America, to be exact) a few moments ago—stressing the fact.

You have to love the overreaction of the person who posted this on YouTube—“how could they put this on air???”

Maybe because it’s true? Just a guess.

Apple hiring iPhone antenna engineers for some reason

Three Apple job postings for iPhone / iPad antenna engineers to "Define and implement antenna system architecture to optimize the radiation performance for wireless portable devices." All three were posted on June 23rd, the same day that we started seeing widespread reporting of the left-handed reception issues. Coincidence?

Apple's Worst Security Breach: 114,000 iPad Owners Exposed

Apple has suffered another embarrassment. A security breach has exposed iPad owners including dozens of CEOs, military officials, and top politicians. They—and every other buyer of the cellular-enabled tablet—could be vulnerable to spam marketing and malicious hacking.

The breach, which comes just weeks after an Apple employee lost an iPhone prototype in a bar, exposed the most exclusive email list on the planet, a collection of early-adopter iPad 3G subscribers that includes thousands of A-listers in finance, politics and media, from New York Times Co. CEO Janet Robinson to Diane Sawyer of ABC News to film mogul Harvey Weinstein to Mayor Michael Bloomberg. It even appears that White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel's information was compromised.

The specific information exposed in the breach included subscribers' email addresses, coupled with an associated ID used to authenticate the subscriber on AT&T's network, known as the ICC-ID. ICC-ID stands for integrated circuit card identifier and is used to identify the SIM cards that associate a mobile device with a particular subscriber.

The subscriber data was obtained by a group calling itself Goatse Security. Though the group is steeped in off-the-wall, 4chan-style internet culture—its name is a reference to a famous gross-out Web picture—it has previously highlighted real security vulnerabilities in the Firefox and Safari Web browsers, and attracted media attention for finding what it said were flaws in Amazon's community ratings system.

Goatse Security obtained its data through a script on AT&T's website, accessible to anyone on the internet. When provided with an ICC-ID as part of an HTTP request, the script would return the associated email address, in what was apparently intended to be an AJAX-style response within a Web application. The security researchers were able to guess a large swath of ICC IDs by looking at known iPad 3G ICC IDs, some of which are shown in pictures posted by gadget enthusiasts to Flickr and other internet sites, and which can also be obtained through friendly associates who own iPads and are willing to share their information, available within the iPad "Settings" application.

Some of the Military Accounts that were compromised

Within the tech industry, accounts were compromised at Google, Amazon, Microsoft and AOL, among others. In finance, accounts belonged to companies from Goldman Sachs to JP Morgan to Citigroup to Morgan Stanley, along with dozens of venture capital and private equity firms.

In government, affected accounts included a GMail user who appears to be Rahm Emanuel and staffers in the Senate, House of Representatives, Department of Justice, NASA, Department of Homeland Security, FAA, FCC, and National Institute of Health, among others. Dozens of employees of the federal court system also appeared on the list.

Turns out Apple shouldn't be the first to tout anybody about security issues

Apple Sells 2 Million iPads

Apple has just trotted out its latest sales milestone for the iPad: two million devices have now been sold since the slate's launch on April 3.That's quite impressive considering the device's lack of Flash support and non-widescreen and high definition support.

iPad/Future iPhone to have Front-facing Camera

Apple recently released -then pulled back- a new version of the ipad software development kit, SDK 3.2. However, developers who downloaded the kit before it was pulled off say that there included tips that future iphones and the yet to be released ipad may have front facing cameras. The 3G version of the ipad might definitely be spotting a front camera, making video conferencing available on the device. Up till now, Apple hasn't stepped forward to say anything, but we're keeping our fingers crossed

Apple and Amazon in battle of the Books

In what is appearing as a new twist, apple is trying to wrest control of the ebook market from Amazon. Amazon's introduction of the Kindle reader saw it approaching book publishers with a $9.99 flat rate for ebooks compared with a $15 tag for hardcover versions. This sparked off a reaction from publishers feeling they'll sell too cheap. But Apple with the introduction of the iPad which some people consider a better reading device than the Kindle because of its color multitouch screen is now offering publishers to sell titles at their own price. This strategy, industry observers say could be an incentive to publishers to draw away from the Amazon flat rate pricing model. But what happens next, would consumers rather buy an ebook rather than a hardcover for almost the same price?

Apple iPad: reviews, what you should know and my own side of the story. Part 1

Now that i'm back, it seems the most popular thing that happened throughout my absence was the launch of the Apple iPad. There's been a lot of hype, raves, criticisms and media rant about this new device, but what side of whose story is best.
First, we all know that the iPad is a tablet PC. That said, a tablet is supposed to be, in my own opinion, a tuned down laptop, or a an upgraded smartphone. But in public consensus, a downgraded laptop is a more acceptable definition. Am sure that after reading this article a lot of readers might call me a Microsoft fanboy, but am going to bare down on the truths about this device.
My first disappointment is about the absence of native Flash. Steve Jobs claims HTML5 is going to be the replacement for Flash, but we ain't seeing HTML5 until another 3 to 4 years. Would Apple's support for HTML5 and non-inclusion of the Flash plugin in their iPad speed up the development and use of HTML5? I don't think so. So why not include what we have and campaign for what we are yet to have. Definitely, it means i can't watch online videos on my iPad.
Secondly, i see on reason why it should have a 4:3 screen and no support for HD output (HDMI). The world has virtually migrated to HD. So, why on earth is this device not supporting HD.
Third, and probably most annoying is the fact that you cannot multitask on the iPad. Then why is it a PC at all. So once you're listening to music, you cant open spreadsheets or edit documents. In my opinion, that's lame.
Before you buy your iPad, make sure you won't really be needing the fore mentioned features
